Que t'al?
Spain. My holiday nemesis. The place I least like going on holiday. A country losing all its tradition thanks to the greed of land developers building on it and Brits, Irish and Germans moving in, English becoming the important language for locals to speak to overcome the upper lipped "We didn't retire out here to learn a bladdy language!" we give.
For shame.
I'm only too pleased to learn where Spanish roots and tradition really lie- Flamenco!
The thought of a large pink bird that stands on one leg came to mind primarily when the proposal was first put forth to me, but since understanding a little better, I've realised it's really an elegant yet sensual form of dancing and suprisingly fun!
Oh my goodness, what can I say?
Because of street dance, I thought I wouldn't be able to pick up a new form of dance. It's come easier than I thought.
Sure, my technique isn't quite perfectly executed, but flamenco? Its all about roles, and I'm the lead! This is all drama conventions- put to music!
Getting into roles- I AM that character! This is something I CAN DO and I believe in myself!
In front of a sample audience the performance passes! How encouraging! Especially in front of my dance partner's family!
And what a partner I have. I feel blessed to be teamed with someone so talented :) All I can say is I'll be making a lot of seƱors jealous como mi chica!
Just gotta bring some chemistry into the stage performance. I got a decent grade at GCSE, and I'm not sure how science comes into giving a believable performance, but I'll do my best with it! (I love my innuendoes!)
Really though. It'll be my highlight of my night for the June show. In a theatre with 300 people, I want to be the 299th most proud person. Lil Abby the 300th.
