In praise of Swedish pear cider

Kopparberg is where its at this summer, coming to a cider aisle near you, hopefully. Or Lloyd's Bar.

No doubt fruity drinks aren't that masculine, but a glass of this over ice on a sunny day is the refreshment every man needs!

Drink Kopparberg! *thumbs up*

So this is how it is... life update

Man, you can really lose touch with bloggin' can'tcha?
I like to feel I've been a busy boy, but that's not the best truth to it. Its really just the heat England's experiencing.

Let's see. Forgive any errors, drinking the last of the fridge's beers. Just bullet pointing my life for the sake of remembering later:

  • The World Cup is over (forza Italia!). Penalties in any final is dramatic, so watching it was siccck!
  • I did a string of assemblies at Magna Carta School for next year's dance classes. Waking up at 6am to get an eeeaarllyyy bus to Egham. It's not good. But I'm hardcore. Gotta keep up appearances
  • Also took a dance class all by myself at another school. Daunting, tiring, but I did it. Would never do it again... well, maybe, for the rush you get, but not too often
  • Uh, more dance, with the English Eurovision entry, going over the dance routine. GET BACK UP!
  • Went and saw the Urdang first and second year show. What a densly populated hottie place to be. I witnessed the most beautiful girls one will ever see in their life. Then went Leicester Square and got into a club free, where the Urdang students took over most of the club.
  • Got a night bus back to Kingston from London (with Matt). A fella got on a 285 from Kingston bus station and threatened people on the bus (sat down in his seat, might I add, but still made verbal threats to kill people), which I completely ignored. He called people who got on the bus at the next busstops "battymans" and I had to bite my finger I was laughing so hard! He must have been on drugs or something. Got off at Sainsbury's and the fucker began to follow us. Through some fields! "Where are you taking mee?" he groans. He had a bag with him, and it was 5am, so we figured it was best to run and take a shortcut, not knowing what he might be carrying (syringes, knives, etc). Fucker.
  • Did a 2hr UDS class later on that same day/morning. Went home and collapsed.

NOW I've an empty house.
Ma familia have gone on holiday, and left me to look after the house. Not that I'm bitter. I have it all here, a full fridge, widescreen TV, DVDs, Gamecube hookup. I just have owt to do, and it gets extremely boring. There's only so much time you can sit in front of a PC before it gets tremendously shit.

Which is why I shall leave my life update here.

The Longest Day

Tue 4th October

What can I say? I am completely run down after only two days progress into the course!

It was up at 7, out at 11 (a little later, actually) to try make it on time for my 9am workshop. Which I still managed to be late for!

There seems to be a glitch with the timetables meaning there's up to 4hrs of free periods. And no work been set. Making it hard finding stuff to do in the mean time.
Unless that time is spent drinking at the student bar, of course.

Fresher's party and it starts to get packed. Although I'm sure there's more freshers. The breakdance crew scheduled to come never came. Bastards. But people got down to some battling and as a result met most of the Uni dance crew - nice people.

All in all, socially a good night, despite the disgruntled, attention-deprived DJ who was in the bar (not the main hall) complaining nobody was listening to him!

Back to the Oldschool

Well an odd start to the first part of the week.

Tuesday is the reignition of some year 6 friendships. Not sure if that's the right phrasing, because from what I remember, alot of such friendships would not have been as strong had we all gone to the same colleges.
Most of the night was "So, hi! What university you going to?" with lots of nervous laughter. Odd atmosphere seeing as I hadn't seen these people in 7 years! Not only this, but when I began talking, conversation was focused on me which became harder coz I was running out of stuff to say eventually. Sorry guys, had to resort to toilet humour!
Still, it was great catching up with the "Remember the time when..." and the other tales of our younger days.
Also, funny to see most people look the same. Some look better, ie girls, some have abstract fashion ideas! But we all got on so well and I think that's all that matters.
Cant wait to see some of them again. So see you all next Wednesday.

A Touch of Jazz

Wow. Its hard to believe that someone with such deep roots in hip hop would choose to do a live set at somewhere as humble as Oceana…

At first I was unsure if he was even going to turn up as I kept hearing rumours from other people that they were only playing his new song (new song??) but surely enough, just after midnight he turned up and took his place on the stage with the turntables.

Prior to that I made sure, ten minutes before that I was as close as I possibly was to the action and I had enough freedom so I could take photos. Forget everyone else! I was virtually on the stage, or at least midway up the stairs up to it. I was metres away from a record-spinning legend!

When he got up, donned in a green “Illadelphia” t-shirt, baggy jeans and baseball cap, not to mention trademark glasses, his small entourage stood to the sides and his host grabbed the microphone to introduced himself and Jazzy Jeff to everyone. I’d say only those who actually cared passionately about his music were those, like myself, that pushed their way right up to the front. Like the dude I saw sporting a Fresh Prince t-shirt. And it was only those around me that screamed the loudest for him.

And that was it. A brief introduction and he was off!

From midnight until almost 3am he spun records- that was overtime too! Unlike a lot of other people who come in to do their sets and then leave 20 minutes later, Jazz took over the regular DJ’s spot and kept going.

I think on the turntables there was absolutely no bettering him as he showed off some downright amazing skills and even played on the audience, as he played “The Next Episode” on both decks bringing it back and playing it over, the crowds thinking they were going to sing the intro (“Da di da di da…”) for over a minute!

Prettymuch everything was mixed up. I think each part was divided into different ‘categories’ as it went from new stuff like “Lean Back” and “Get Low” and Aftermath records onto Death Row hits like “Dre Day” and “California Love” onto oldschool classics like “Ice, Ice, Baby” and “Push It.”

Scarily enough though, during the oldschool part they also played Eurythmics! “Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These” while some fella on the podium did the Robot (Jazz’s MC pointed him out).

And “Summertime” got played. Oh, they loved “Summertime!” It was something I’d been waiting to hear all night in fact. And he didn’t miss out on raga either.

Two people at the front started pulling and once again, the MC pointed it out to Jazz who switched the record to “Breath and Stop,” through which they continued to keep pulling (hey, at least he hasn’t lost his humour since Fresh Prince!”). After they even stopped the music and put the spotlight on them for a minute but even still they wouldn’t stop!!

I’d say Jazz put on a good show. Some of the music wasn’t the best choice, although this was a student night, but the mixing, cutting and scratching was amazing. If a majority of the audience actually knew who Jazzy Jeff was they’d have truly appreciated his talents, although after a certain amount of record spins many lost interest in his DJing because to them he was just another DJ.

The MC was cool as well, he did his best to keep the crowd buzzing and even slapped hands with the odd person with outstretched palms (including myself)

His sideman on stage also came over when I kept signalling him, he took my phone to take some closer photos, as well as a few other lucky people, and when he came back I grabbed him and pulled him close and shouted “PLAY THE FRESH PRINCE THEME SONG!” At the end of the night he never actually did play it, which was a great disappointment coz the crowd would have gone wild, although I wouldn’t assume that it had been packed anyway.

Me, I stayed at the front for the whole night, taking the entire thing, and going a tad deaf in the process! Some prats on the stairs next to me tried starting a bit of a ruck too but were escorted out by security before it could even begin. LoLz to them.

After the set was over the floor emptied quickly and the ropes surrounding the stage were taken down, so I stepped up onto it for and extra few close up photos, although the security kept blocking me and telling me to “go home.”

“Suck your mum!” I thought. “I came to see Jazz and that’s exactly what I’m going to do!”

I walked round the side stairs and asked Jazz’s MC if I could get Jazz to sign something for me, although I cant remember his reply.

I had enough and went where the security weren’t and called down from the balcony above “Jazz! Hey Jazz!” He turned round and looked up. I pulled my college lunch card out and asked him to sign it. Obviously he looked a little confused coz at first it would have looked like I was giving him my bank card (other people were getting their money signed, I thought forget that, that’s my fare home!). And that’s it. “Thank you!” and I was out. I witness him and now I had a memento of it. And the college will never see me returning my lunch card either!

d00d!

Last night was all cooooool! Everything went smoothe, although there was so much pizza there wasn't enough room for desert, so today's lunch has been last night's leftovers! There will def be another gathering during the summer... don't whine if i don't want you in my house though...
I also quite possibly have the most rewarding job EVER. Given that i was 20minutes late upon arrival, pushing my guests out the door, we've all been given an extra half hour lunch break which raises the question "What the fuck do i do with the time!?" as i've already eaten... eh, you don't see me bothered, as long as i'm getting paid for it! In the mean time i think i'll hit up the High Street and peep any sales or offers.

Yah-fey!!

Home alone.....

Straight back from the Pimps'n'Hoes party and onto Friday morning, the family are initiating their plans to go to Bournemouth leaving me at home to fend for myself.

Stupidly i left my personal stuff with the girls (what up ladies!?) last night meaning if i were to survive with nothing in the fridge, i'd need to make the journey to collect my cashcard... i did so, and went Sainsbury's to find as many bulk 2-for-1 meals as i could. The final amount was just over £10. Its pretty good considering how little i do the food shopping

So i've got the food but nobody for company tonight, so being the fam i am, called up my possé familia aka the J.M.X. heads and BAM i've an instant gathering!!

In the words of Flava Flav : TOO MUCH POSSÉ!!

Just a case of me clearing up the house for my guests, hoovering and heating up the oven - Friday night be Pizza night!!

The impatience is killing me - i am ever so slightly excited, that i'm head of the house for a day lol

Preparing to pimp...

College work is probably suffering right now but i've been researching my pimp gear for the pimpz and hoez party tomorrow and im unsure i can get it all done in time, given i have to film media (i pray for sun ), go dance, wash, then hit up the party. I've already sorted out a present for Alice, she's gonna laugh too hard when she sees it..... its stolen too, but its all good.

PLUS my hair. Oh my g0d, my hair!! If i can get my hair done then people will be having stuff to talk about...

Nunnay'all gonna know it but i'll come about an hour into it so there's more action and pimpin' will be easier .

Anyway, I need to add some touches to my costume (as opposed to doing shitty essays)
