Usually its payday on the 26th.
Not in December though. Clearly the council are considerate to their employees when paying them prior to Christmas. I got my pay on 23rd. How fortunate, if you excuse the pun.
But if you look closer (as I did) when filing your payslips into your brand-new catalogue-ordered Christmas present of a 'private' file (give me an edged knife and I'd be inside in a minute), this year I haven't been paid any extra at all.
Its a bloody outrage!
Last year Christmas and New Year's Day both fell on a Saturday so I had two paid days off, plus a little on top - about £35 - and I'd only been working four weeks.
This year I've worked Christmas Eve avec un Santa hat and I'll be working New Year's Eve too, with no enhancements.
Am I an ungrateful worker? I only worked 3hrs on Saturday, so am I to be paid only for those hours, or a full day's wages? And will my New Year pay be totalled in my next installment?
Oh, I hope so.
Librarians. Arrogant fuckers aren't we?
