Narrow escape as glass pane falls from Leicester Square window
You heard it here first.
3.35pm
While the publice were happily distracted by the filming of a new BBC comedy being filmed in the centre of the square, people's concentration was broken by the sound of a loud crash from the opposite end.
While most of the square is mostly a pedestrian zone, the idea of a car crash seems impossible around the West End.
Amazingly, noone was hurt in the freak accident. All that remains is the mangled glass frame on the ground and a perimeter of shattered glass.
Dazzled office workers stared outside from their desks.
Witnesses said they saw the glass pane as it fell to the ground. An off-duty BBC cameraman captured some of the scene after it had happened on film.
A first aid worker on the scene said there were no casualties.
