Read on, read on... sorry about the bad layout, from time to time the blog goes funny. Try downloading FireFox to fix any problems with viewing the site. I keep the blog to maintain memories I'm likely to forget and share them with the world. Typing stuff is also easier than writing with a pen and saves paper:) You can select which blog subject I've written under on the left, although most things will be Thoughts and Feelings or Rant (its too easy to rant about stuff)

The ART of writing letters... in return for FREE stuff!

Yes indeed, there is a lot to learn from the art of letter writing!
So i found out this morning when i received a package, hand addressed from Durex!

The postman had to knock coz the parcel wouldnt fit through the letterbox- inside were TWO boxes of condoms, completely free!! (A 12-pack of Tingles- so kind!) First class, dated yesterday (10th) - how's that for customer care??

And inside, a letter addressed personally to me- oh how i love being audacious with my letters!

Here's what I wrote in the letter to Durex - it was a reasonable concern, but the rewards (30 free rubbers) are great!

Enjoy:

To whom it may concern at Durex,

It has recently come to my attention, with the help of the Durex UK website that there may be numbers of counterfeit condoms in circulation. Although the website information gives details on how to recognise what may be faulty goods, there are still a few subtle differences in packaging which would still draw some attention from me.
This is probably needless worry, due to Durex condoms being manufactured in countries other than UK. However, upon close inspection, I note 2 immediate differences:

The sealing of the condom: either diagonal or square crimped; I find the squared more susceptible to leaking after discovering lube of one (Select) staining some paper I had next to it in my wallet.

Second is the way date/batch details are printed, both on the box and on the condom wrapping, as the codes for these can also differ. Enclosed are a few examples of what I mean.

May I also add I buy my condoms from the same Boots store almost every time.
Therefore, one would assume the supply would be from the same origin, even if certain packaging traits appear different.

Yet once a company or product becomes successful, others may try cashing in with cheap counterfeit products.

Using the enclosed samples and date/batch number flaps, is it possible to trace their origin, or even tell a condom's authenticity by how its sealed in its packet?

Or perhaps there is no difference at all? I am hoping you can clear this up for me.

If you would like this letter typed up properly for the record, I have no problem in doing that for you, just contact me by my address given.

Many thanks,

David

PS: I hope its not too much to ask, but perhaps you could replace the condoms I sent? I had to buy a few packets in order to find the particular samples I was looking for! Thank you.

Hey it worked for me!! And I'll probably frame the letter too. I've always wanted something official from Durex, you know??
It was just a short 'case-study' of their products, pointing out a few things and receiving generous 'compesation' from them. And I'll do it again. Not only with Durex, but with other companies too lol.

Take note, playaz. Oh, and its also good to make up a few lies too. The above isnt all the gospel thruth lol
